Moroccan Oil Is A Blessing For Skin And Hair

By Andrew Nolan

Argan oil is derived from the kernels of the Argan tree, which is native to Morocco. Moroccan oil is prized for its cosmetic, medicinal and nutritive properties. Most of the ingredients listed on a bottle of commercially produced argan oil are silicones, which are used in other anti-frizz hair products.

Moroccan oill adds lustre and sheen but it does not leave the hair feeling heavy or greasy. It is also good for helping to keep the skin moist and supple. There is at least one clinical study that comments on the suitability of argan oil for controlling the amount of oil that is present in naturally oily skin.

The first people to use Moroccan oil as a beauty product were the Berbers. They would collect undigested pits beneath argan trees where goats had climbed to munch on the fruit. This caused some people to think that the prized commodity came from animal droppings. Today, it is collected directly from the trees on which it grows and then processed by machine.

Use in tiny amounts in clean, damp hair; a little goes a long way. In fact, this exotic beauty treatment speeds up hair drying. Once the hair is dry, your hair will feel silky smooth. A luminous hair spray made from the same product finishes off the styling process.

Argan oil is also edible. It is packed with unsaturated essential fatty acids, approximately 80 percent. These biochemicals are unable to be manufactured in the body and must be absorbed from the diet. The oil is also rich in the fat-soluble vitamins, A and E.

Used either neat or mixed with other oils, the essence of Argan has been helping to nourish skin for centuries. To use it on your skin, first exfoliate with a dry skin brush. This will remove the dead skin cells and prepare the skin for moisturization. Mix with sesame oil and massage gently into the skin.
